Derrick Tshimanga is Beerschot's latest acquisition. The 34 year old defender signed a one year contract on Friday afternoon. With more than 300 games in the first and second divisions in both Belgium and Holland under his belt he will bring quality and experience to our squad.
Tshimanga grew up in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium, started playing football at VK Valaarhof and made the breakthrough in pro football at SC Lokeren. From there he moved to Racing Genk, where he was called up for the Red Devils. After a move to Holland, where he played for Willem II in Tilburg, he ended up at Oud Heverlee Leuven. The last two seasons he played at SK Beveren.
"This is full circle for me", Tshimanga smiled after putting pen to paper. "I grew up in the Kiel district, attended school at Pius X just round the corner and always wanted to play for Beerschot. Now my dream finally comes through. I am over the moon."
"Derrick's experience is a big bonus for us", technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi says. "He proved his worth at all the clubs he has played for. His desire to come to Beerschot makes everybody happy."
