Beerschot remains the only non-first division team left in the Croky Cup Match - report 31 Oct What a night at the Kiel again! Beerschot pulled off a remarkable feat by eliminating first division team Westerlo from the Croky Cup. On the sidelines, two old acquaintances faced each other: Messoudi and Charaï. However, it was Messoudi's team that got off to the best start. After just four minutes, the ball fell at Haraguchi's feet. The Japanese player did not hesitate and fired home from thirty metres — a dream start for Beerschot.

The home team largely maintained control after that, although Westerlo managed to equalise just before half-time. After a corner, Kimura managed to outwit goalkeeper Shinton. Another goal conceded from a set piece — something the Mannekes need to work on. So both teams went into the dressing room with a 1-1 half-time score.

After the break, the game remained unchanged. Beerschot showed the most drive and desire to win. In the 53rd minute, they were rewarded: Weymans struck devastatingly from outside the box to put Beerschot back in front.

Westerlo had no answer. Beerschot remained in control and occasionally threatened on the counterattack. With twenty minutes to go, Weymans made another good run and found Claes in the box. He calmly slotted home to make it 3-1.

Sakamoto's late goal in the 93rd minute was merely a footnote. Beerschot is the only non-first division team to advance to the Croky Cup quarter-finals, where it will host La Louvière.
Another big match is coming up on Sunday at the Kiel: Beerschot will host Kortrijk in the battle for second place.
