A frustrating evening at the KielMatch - report14 DecBeerschot failed to beat Patro Eisden. The visitors from Maasmechelen ultimately came out on top with a 0-2 victory. After last week's defeat against Club NXT, coach Messoudi put his faith in Oscar Vargas, who was allowed to start the match. However, everything went poorly in the first half. Beerschot struggled to find openings against Patro's low and well-organised block. The Limburgers mainly posed a threat from set pieces, but goalkeeper Shinton was alert and kept a clean sheet. It was therefore logical that we went into the break with the score at 0-0.
After the break, Glenn Claes had to stay in the dressing room due to an injury he sustained just before half-time. Beerschot tried to start the second half with more offensive intent and took the initiative. The ball circulation was smoother, but there were no real chances. Patro remained strong in the duels. Former Beerschot player Denis Prychynenko was also protected by coach Stijnen from receiving a second yellow card, which meant that both teams continued to play with eleven men, at least for a while.
On the hour mark, referee Boterberg punished Van La Parra's foul without hesitation with a red card; a harsh decision. Beerschot had to play the remaining half hour with ten men. Patro made the most of their numerical advantage. With fifteen minutes to go, Shinton managed to parry a powerful shot from Rousseau, but Robberechts scored from the rebound: 0-1.
Beerschot tried to force a reaction, but sloppy build-up play prevented any real danger. Five minutes before the end, Patro sealed the game once and for all. Rousseau was first to the ball and dropped it past Shinton: 0-2 and game over.
It was a frustrating evening for everyone who supports Beerschot. After a particularly strong first half of the season, the purple and white now end it with two painful defeats. Fortunately, there will be another chance to redeem themselves on Tuesday. With two important matches left before the winter break, Beerschot will start on Tuesday evening at home against Jong KAA Gent in the Olympic Stadium.
