Due to the injury of Arnold Vula, who was in good form, coach Messoudi had to tinker with his attack. Ensar Brahic was given his first start. Beerschot started furiously and immediately forced two corner kicks, but that did not result in any goal threats. The intentions were clear: Mauve-Wit went on the attack. Van La Parra tried twice in the opening half hour, but goalkeeper De Corte remained alert.

After half an hour, Club NXT suddenly struck. A corner was cleared to the edge of the box, where Campbell volleyed the ball first time. His shot hit the crossbar and went into the top corner. 1-0, which was also the half-time score.

Beerschot had time to regroup during the break and came out of the dressing room eager to get back into the game. The chances came thick and fast, with Van La Parra the most prominent attacker. However, it was Genki Haraguchi who scored the deserved equaliser. The Japanese player once again demonstrated his superb long-range shooting skills, leaving De Corte with no chance: 1-1.

Beerschot then went in search of the lead, but five minutes before the end, their efforts came to nothing. Club NXT, which had hardly threatened after the break, came back again and Campbell scored a second time with a fine shot. In added time, the home side even extended their lead: substitute Lund Jensen made it 3-1 past Shinton in two stages.
