Beerschot started sharply and immediately went on the attack. After just four minutes, Vula and Claes had already forced goalkeeper Belin into two saves. The Liège defence clearly struggled with the powerful striker, and five minutes before half-time, Vula broke the deadlock. He rose above everyone else to meet a perfectly taken corner from Van Eenoo: 1-0, a more than deserved lead at the break. Beerschot remained the dominant side after the break, although this did not result in many real chances in the first quarter of an hour. After an hour of play, Glenn Claes left two opponents in his wake and painted the ball towards the near post, where Vula shot at Belin from close range. The decisive second goal finally came fifteen minutes before the end.
