Beerschot started with three new faces in the line-up compared to the game against Francs Borains. Still, it was Jong Genk who threatened first: after barely two minutes, Lazar hit the post, and Beerschot had an early escape. That scare was enough to wake the Bears up, and from then on they firmly took control of the match.
After fifteen minutes, the deserved opener followed. Vargas delivered a fine cross to Dagba, who played the ball perfectly across goal, where Vula was in the right place to tap in the 0-1. Beerschot continued to dominate and created several more chances, though Jong Genk occasionally showed some danger as well. The Bears went into halftime at the Leunenstadion with a narrow 0-1 lead.
Shortly after the break, it was again the home side who created the first danger. Luca Oyen tried his luck from distance, but goalkeeper Shinton pulled off a brilliant save. Beerschot then regained control. Vargas had the opportunity to put the match to bed but was denied by Brughmans, while Vula briefly thought he had doubled the lead, only to see his goal ruled out for offside.
Twenty minutes from time, the decisive second goal finally arrived. Van la Parra spotted Jordanov on the right, who whipped in a superb cross for Van Eenoo. Our midfielder finished calmly and celebrated his first goal in Beerschot colours: 0-2.
The Bears managed the game maturely from there and returned to the Kiel with three well-deserved points. With this victory, our Mannekes head into the final match before the break full of confidence. On Saturday at 8 p.m., we host Lokeren at the Olympisch Stadion.
