Joint Statement by Beerschot & Nova Club 13 Aug Today, Beerschot and Nova have been unjustly accused of plagiarism regarding our new limited-edition shirt. These claims are clearly unfounded. Some previous communications have been misinterpreted in the media. We want to set the record straight and provide proper context.

The design was created entirely independently. Nova has never claimed that it was inspired by specific designs from any third party. We only mentioned that we were inspired by certain existing designs after our own concept had already been finalised.

This shirt was born from an internal design process, drawing inspiration from Antwerp, the city’s rich fashion heritage, and its renowned designers. Floral motifs have been a fixture in Antwerp’s fashion scene for decades - think of the work of Dries Van Noten and other internationally recognised designers known for their floral styles. From that inspiration, we wanted to create a shirt with symbolic meaning for our community. For us as a club and production brand from Antwerp, that’s a natural fit. We chose purple violets, a flower that symbolises Beerschot. The result is an original design, shaped by a variety of influences and creative ideas.

There has been no plagiarism. We regret that such unjust allegations have been made publicly without any factual evidence.

Nova stands for craftsmanship, sustainable production, creativity, and innovation. Our vision remains unchanged: for the fans. We continue to innovate and connect, always in close cooperation with clubs and in dialogue with supporters. Our collaboration with Beerschot is proof of that. The launch of the new away shirt alongside club legend Juan Lozano sparked more excitement among our supporters than ever before, under the motto ‘Because Beerschot Always Comes Back.’ The home shirt was also met with great enthusiasm. This partnership is built for Beerschot fans, and we remain fully committed to them.
