French striker Charly Keita joined Beerschot on a two year contract, with an optional extra season, on Tuesday afternoon. "I am happy to be able to sign for a club with a great history', he said.
Keita grew up in Nantes and started playing football at La Rochelle. He then joined Pau FC before coming to Clermont Foot. Last season he played for FC Biel-Bienne in Switzerland on loan. In July he joined Andreas Wieland's squad on a trial and got his chance in the friendly against KV Kortfijk. "I immediately liked the atmosphere at Beerschot and told my manager I would love to sign here."
"Profilewise I am a central striker and with my speed I can create depth in the combination. I like the coach's approach to football and didn't hesitate one second when I got the opportunity to join Beerschot. I know the rich history of this club and have heard lots of good things about the loyal and fanatic supporters."
"I am happy we could bring Charly Keita in", technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi adds. "He is the type of player we didn't have in our squad yet. He has great potential. It is entirely up to him now to impress."
