On the final day of the transfer window Beerschot signed 20 year old Stipe Radic from Hajduk Split. The strong and talented central defender signed a contract for two and a half years, with an option for two more seasons.
Radic has been on Beerschot’s radar for quite a while and originally was our target for next season. On Monday our club had the opportunity to persuade the Croatian youth international to join Beerschot with immediate effect.
“This was an opportunity we couldn’t afford to let slip away”, technical manager Sander Van Praet says. “Radic is a modern central defender, 1.90 metres tall and combines his physical presence with good feet and vista.”
Stipe Radic worked his way through the Hajduk Split Youth Academy and became a full member of the Croatian top team’s first squad last season. He also featured in Hajduk’s tough battle for the league title. He had a bit of a setback when he tested positive for Covid-19 but is now fully recovered and was used as a substitute nine times this season.
Sander Van Praet: “Stipe is a young lad and is bound to make progression the next couple of months. We are convinced he will soon become a fierce contender for a place in Beerschot’s central defense.”
