In a cold Olympic Stadion and in front of a 4,000 crowd Beerschot and the Anderlecht youngsters shared the points in this first game of the Promotion Play Offs. The match ended as it started: 0-0.
In a tight first half neither team gave away space and the few chances came after individual mistakes in the build up or on the break. Bill Lathouwers twice denied Stassin, palming his shots in corner. At the other end Baeten made his way through the heart ot the Anderlecht defense but his shot went into the side netting. Just before the break also Thorisson went close but Vercauteren saved.
Beerschot upped the tempo in the second half, putting pressure on the visitors without creating 100% chances though. Baeten came inches short to tap in a low cross from Verlinden. Verlinden created more danger with an individual action, aiming for the low corner, but Vercauteren saved. And when Sebaoui crossed Van den Bergh was unable to find the corner to put our Mannekes 1-0 up. RSCA Futures threatened in the final quarter with a shot from their topscorer Stassin, with Lathouwers saving comfortably. Nil-nil the final score.
