BEERSCHOT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE DURING STRONG SECOND HALF

Beerschot – Francs Borains 2-1

Mission accomplished for Beerschot on Saturday night. Andreas Wieland's team regrouped after a disappointing first half and eventually beat Francs Borains with goals from Verlinden and Kosiah after the break. Three golden points.

In a lacklustre first half our Mannekes never got in their rhythm with hardly any scoring opportunities. The Francs Borains defence stood firm but the visitors were unable to threathen... with just one shot on target, easily saved by Matijas.

A double substitution at half time was the key to open up the game, with Nzita and Pauwels coming on for Alhassan and Reyners. Suddenly Beerschot swept aside the visitors with good combinations and a handful of chances. Nzita tried his luck but Malungu saved. The same Francs Borains defender was unlucky a couple of minutes later when he deviated a cross from Verlinden past his own goalkeeper. Beerschot needed that bit of luck to take full advantage of their dominance.

One of tjhe best actions came when Cagro found Michez with a clever through ball... but his shot went wide. Beerschot kept pushing forward and Kosiah was unlucky when two of his drives went narrowly wide. Five minutes later he scored his third goal in as many games when he controlled the ball and swiftly put it in the far corner. Great goal!

Two minutes beofre the end Francs Borains scored a consolation goal through Curci, who volleyed home from a high ball for the 2-1 final score.
