FOUR IN A ROW

RSCA FUTURES - BEERSCHOT  1 - 2

Beerschot continued their good run with an important victory at Anderlecht's Lotto Park. Our Mannekes went 1-0 down early in the game but fought back and sailed to a fourth win in a row thanks to brilliant goals fom Sanusi and Thorisson. It was sweet revenge after we had lost at home against the Anderlecht youngsters just a couple of weeks ago.

It didn't start well though as the home team took an early lead when a through ball from Hubert opened up our defense with Stassin putting the ball in the net. Beerschot responded well with swift combinations and dangerous crosses from Seydoux, Rigo and Thorisson but there was no one in the box to pounce. RSCA Futures threatened on the break in a lively and entertaining game of football.

On the half hour Beerschot equalised after yet another good combination. Ryan Sanusi scored with a real scorcher in the top corner. Brilliant finishing it was and a contender for "Goal of the Season" after Dante Rigo had scored in the same way two weeks earlier. If you want to see world class goals, Beerschot is the place to be.

Beerschot started the second half with four good scoring opportunities in a row. Baeten and Rigo saw their shots end up in the side netting, then Baeten came inches short to tap in a low cross from Verlinden and headed over from a Weymans high ball.

The well deserved second goal came just before the hour. It was Thorisson who curled the ball in the far corner, which eventually proved to be the winner. Our Icelandic striker celebrated with a "cradle move" and dedicated his goal to his newly born son. Nice gesture.

Beerschot created plenty of chances but 'forgot' to score that third goal that would have settled the game. Instead it was RSCA Futures who fought back and came very close to an equaliser. But Lathouwers produced a miraculous save when Ait El Hadj tried his luck from only five metres out, while Michez missed a sitter just a minute later. Two lucky escapes. The home team ran riot in the dying minutes of the game, pumping high balls in the box and shooting from all angles. But our defense survived.
