Jong Genk – Beerschot: 1-2
Third away victory in a row for Beerschot. Our Mannekes fell behind early in the second half but fought back courageously after that and finally won the three points with well taken goals from Tom Reyners and Mardo Nzita.
Andreas Wieland's team didn't impress in a slow and sloppy first half. "We didn't find the right solutions in that period", our coach said afterwards. Sanusi and Reyners created good scoring opportunities that didn't beat Penders. The better chance was for Verlinden. Again the Jong Genk goalkeeper saved the shot and Nzita came centimetres short to tip in the rebound.
After the break Beerschot conceded a much too easy goal after loss of concentration in defence. John intercepted and Mirisola headed in at the far post. Some tactical changes brought Beerschot back in the game. Verlinden dribbled into the box and Reyners scored the equaliser. His third goal in consecutive matches.
Beerschot were in the mood now and after Bangoura conceded his second yellow card we took advantage. Michez was the provider, Nzita netted his first of the season for a valuable 1-2 win. In the final minutes Reyners saw his shot from just inside the box come back off the crossbar. No more goals were scored in added on time. Two-one the final score which means Beerschot leaps into third place in the table.
