Striker Nökkvi Thorisson is making the move to the MLS. The Icelandic international is being sold to St. Louis City. On top of the transfer fee, Beerschot negotiated another sell on fee. Thorisson thus becomes Beerschot's biggest outgoing transfer since the 2013 relaunch of the club. Beerschot wishes Nökkvi a lot of success in the future.
Thorisson was acquired last year in the last week of the transfer period from Akureyri in Iceland. He became top marksman in the Icelandic league last season and also scored eight goals in 30 games at Beerschot. In december he earned his first national team call-up for Iceland.
"After last season, Nökkvi caught the eye of St. Louis in the MLS," CEO Frédéric Van den Steen told us. "Nökkvi himself indicated he was very charmed by their proposal. Beerschot negotiated a deal with the American team that everyone can be satisfied with."
Beerschot would like to thank Thorisson for his professionalism and commitment last season and wish him good luck in the rest of his career.
