Beerschot partners with Deliveroo

Beerschot partners with Deliveroo until the end of this season. The popular food-delivery app already delivered the matchball during Beerschot - RWDM and will do so for the next two home games. On top of that, there will be several activations for our fans in the coming weeks. Meet our newest partner, through General Manager Quirin Dalemans. "A super local approach, that's the name of the game."

Dalemans has been with Deliveroo for just under five years, so he has already been through most of Deliveroo's story in Belgium. "We have now been operating in Belgium for seven years", says the general manager. "When we launched the app, we were in the five biggest cities in Belgium, including Antwerp. Our goal is to make sure everybody in Belgium can have food delivered at home. We recently expanded our service in 175 new locations and the opening in these new cities is a massive step forward in that direction. And we don't just limit ourselves to hot meals. Bakers, butchers and even supermarkets have also found their way to our platform."

"It's a competitive market," Dalemans continues. "What we find very mportant is to be close to the people who use our service. We might be an international company, but ordering food is a local affair. You order from a restaurant around the corner, and it's delivered by a rider from Antwerp. That experience is completely different in different cities and countries. Our main strategy is to know the area and the people that live in it as well as possible. That way we can offer them the best experience."

And that approach is paying off. "Covid has accelerated our growth. During the lockdowns, ordering food was the only way to still have some kind of restaurant experience. A lot of people started using Deliveroo in that period and those customers have stayed. One in twelve “Antwerpenaren” placed an order in the app last year... We're very proud of that, but of course we want to grow even more."

Deliveroo also thinks locally in terms of partnerships. "We call that a super local approach," smiles Dalemans. "We are always looking for partners who are close to our target group. Who are recognisable and nearby. So in Antwerp, we couldn't get around the team from 't stad (winks)."

Deliveroo links a B2B component to that strong B2C network. "We obviously support local merchants and restaurants. But also have a lot of businesses as customers through Deliveroo for work. On the one hand, that can be for employers who offer their employees a credit on Deliveroo. On the other hand, there is also the possibility of ordering catering for events through Deliveroo.
