BACK IN TIME: SINT-TRUIDEN - BEERSCHOT 2011-2012

With Beerschot starting the 2020-2021 season in the First Division, we look back at our club’s history and turn the spotlight on a corresponding fixture from yesteryear…

Today: Sint-Truiden - Beerschot - Eupen, season 2011-2012

GOALS GALORE… AND BEERSCHOT WINS

The STVV-Beerschot game from nine years ago was an obvious choice in our search for a spectacular encounter from the past. Six goals, seven yellow cards and a Beerschot win,… nothing else mattered.

From Beerschot’s point of view the first half was poor. Sint-Truiden were by far the better team and Stijn Stijnen produced a handful good saves on shots from Mennes, Reza and Dufer. After the break it was Beerschot who took control. Hernan Losada set the pace with two goals in the fourth quarter, both right footed shots in the left bottom corner. A penalty foul from Sherjill MacDonald – who had set up Losada for his second goal minutes earlier – brought STVV back in the game.

The intensity of the game mounted: ref Colemonts produced seven yellow cards and sent off STVV head coach Franky Van der Elst for dissent. Beerschot kept their cool though and clinched the three points with a wonderful chip from Adnan Custovic deep in injury time.
