THREE MORE YEARS AT BEERSCHOT FOR RYAN SANUSI

Club captain Ryan Sanusi signed a brand new three year contract on Monday afternoon. That contract will expire in 2025. "We are extremely happy", says chairman Francis Vrancken. "Ryan was our top priority in our battle to bounce back to Division 1A as soon as possible."

Ryan Sanusi himself is over the moon as well. "Beerschot is and will always be my club. Stepping through the main entrance of the Olympic Stadium always feels like coming home. I had a couple of possibilities to join teams from Division 1A but in the end I opted to stay put. It is a good feeling thing really."

"I am a local boy and worked my way up through the Youth Academy. Playing for Beerschot's first team a couple of seasons ago was like a dream come true. Relegation at the end of last season came as a big blow but I don't want to run away now. I am determined to play a major part of the club's  ambition to get back to the top tier of Belgian football. Next season if possible. Beerschot just deserves to play in Division 1A."

Beerschot's new project starts on June 20th, under the guidance of new head coach Andreas Wieland. "My first impressions of Mr. Wieland are positive", Sanusi continues. "I look forward to working with him and like the style of football he stands for: high pressure, starting from your own possibilities and strength."

Chairman Francis Vrancken produced his broadest of smiles after Ryan Sanusi put pen to paper to sign the new deal. "Keeping Ryan on board was our top priority in our build up to the new season. His love for the club, his respect for our traditions and our supporters make Ryan a true "Manneke". With this three year contract we reward him for his loyalty. It is in line with our ambitions. With him as captain we will start our fightback to Dvision 1A. I am extremely proud we will be doing that together."

"Ryan Sanusi is not only an important asset for our first team, he will also play his part in our Academy", says co-owner Philippe Verellen. "We will be investing heavily in our infrastructure but also in first team players to have an exemplary function for our youngsters. In that respect Ryan Sanusi is the perfect example, coming through the youth ranks and working his way up to club captain."
