BEERSCHOT SIGNS NAURIS PETKEVICIUS ON LOAN
A new striker for Beerschot: 22 year old Lithuanian international Nauris Petkevicius today signed a contract until the end of the season. He joins from SC Charleroi. Petkevicius, who had his medicals on Wednesday, will pick up the training sessions with the A squad on Friday.
Petkevicius started his career at Stumbras in his home country, moved to Lille in 2017, returned to Lithuania where he scored 16 goals in 33 games at FC Hegelman and finally signed for SC Charleroi in January 2022.
"I am really looking forward to come and play for Beerschot. Last term, when we played in the Olympic Stadium with Charleroi, I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere. The Beerschot supporters made so much noise and created exazctly the atmosphere I love. That is one of the reasons why I accepted Beerschot's offer to come here", Nauris said in a first reaction. "I have had a chat with the coach and I go along with his ideas about football. It is now my duty to work hard and claim my spot in the team. I am extremely motivated."
"Nauris Petkevicius will fit perfectly in our system", new technical manager Gyorgy Csepregi predicts. "He is a hard working striker with a good mentality and positive approach, who puts the collective above the individual. At the same time he is our next young and talented youngster where we want to build from, and already has quite a bit of experience despite of his young age."
