BEERSCHOT RUN RIOT AFTER THE BREAK

BEERSCHOT - VIRTON   3 - 0

At last a fine and totally deserved home victory for Beerschot, who made the difference in the second half when they produced the better football, outplayed the visitors, creeated chances and scored their three goals.

Like most visiting teams when visiting the Olympic Stadium Virton also opted for the obvious and easy awaiting game and speculated on the counter, relying on their dangerous striker duo Mabella-Anne. They created a couple of good scoring opportunities but Lathouwers fisted away the strike from Mabella while Anne's low shot was parried in the short corner. Two good and importnt saves. Beerschot lacked the pace and good ideas to scare the visiting defense and were too sloppy in the build up. Only Verlinden and Thorisson threatened but Vincensini saved quite easily.

The second half was much better, with Thibaud Verlinden starring on the right wing. Ten minutes after the break his tireless work paid off when he set up Dante Rigo for a brilliant goal, our midfielder's shot ending up in the top corner. What a strike!

It was all Beerschot from that moment with Nökkvi Thorisszon and Tibo Baeten scoring our second and third goals after good infiltrations and inch perfect passing. At the other end Bill Lathouwers kept a clean sheet as the Virton strikers were unable to outplay our defense who made amends for a rather poor performance in the first half.

Three-nil was the final score, a result that keeps us in contention with the leaders.
